This week China became the second largest economy behind only to the US surpassing Japan which held this position for the last 43 years. It also surpassed Germany in terms of total exports to the GDP ratio.
India is the 11 economy in the world today. In 16 Century we were the second largest economy with the global trade share of 24.5% aggregate this was the time when Emperor Aurangzeb ruled and this was the largest share by any country in the world ever.
After that British East India company came to the power in early 19 Century and this share reduced to 16% then ultimately 12.2% by 1870. And now we are sitting at a paltry 6.3% of the global trade share that too when our population is 1/5th of the globes population.
These are some of the not so interesting statistics, came across in The Times of India today....

I tried to reason with but some questions I'm not able to understand.. what would it take to have decoration flower pots costing 30 Crore, a ballon to be hoisted in opening ceremony for 50 Crores and a total budget that can be any where between 10,000 to 50,000 crores with no or limited visibilty and accountability... Really Government and Commonwealth Games committee has lots to explain to the people...

Formula 1 is gearing towards an exciting competition between Hamilton, Webber, Vettel with some surprise elements who can pitch in any time or in at least any single race disturbing the very momentum... just 4 points gap between Hamilton and Webber, its going to be an all out game of lead building... Webber wins at Hungarian Grand Prix is well deserved, one of the toughest circuits at 7.1 Kms with top speed straights to die for as an F1 driver...

Blackberry issue with the governments in India, UAE, Saudi Arabia and its Canadian provider... ideally the federal authority of state should control, regulate and access information in todays highly complex world... with our world getting more and more unsafe place to live in, it seems right as a matter of opinion and public policy that Government should know things as they need to for the better good of our society and humanity as a whole... but we need to pause here and think its a thin line of trust, privacy and control that needs to be simultaneously addressed...

A very good article on an interactive adhoc query system "Dremel" from Google Labs as suggested by one of my colleague... overall its interesting and a good read...

Nothing much going on these days just working on some Lotus Notes SharePoint Migration Framework and exploring SharePoint 2010 custom development..

Currently reading this very nice book from Peter Senge - The Fifth Discipline, may be a good management fad but there are some real learning into personal mastery and changing the way we look into an aspect from systems approach, also for reference Harold Kerzner is an authority on this and his work in systems approach is very fundamental and original to this discipline in general management, I've read his book while in college and still some times look towards it really gives better perspective... Lets see what comes ahead.. Happy reading till then..
